What is a ceramic ferrule?

Optical ferrule plays a significant role in Fiber Connectors as well as Fiber Patchcord. With the characteristics of low insertion loss required for optical transmission, a low value in elasticity coefficient, excellent strength and high resistance to changeable environments, the ceramic ferrule is usually used in optical connectors.

Having the high durability and the highest levels of dimensional control, these kinds of optical fiber ferrules are available to all fiber applications designated in TIA/EIA-568-B.1 cabling architecture standards. Ceramic ferrule, which is essentially zirconia materials, owns brilliant control over the size. Fiber Ferrule Types

Standard Ferrules


Standard ferrules are typically used as sub-components within standard fiber optic connectors, but can also be integrated into various specialized applications. They are made of zirconia ceramic, which offers the highest performance and durability of all ferrule material types. All Standard Ferrules are precision manufactured according to strict quality standards. Non-standard ferrules are designed to meet unique requirements for a wide range of applications, including medical, military, or scientific integration. Non-standard ferrules are also made of zirconia ceramics, with inside diameters from 80 microns to 750 microns, in lengths from 2.5mm to 22.4mm, and with features such as multi-step, countersinks, flats, slots, grooves, and chamfers.

Originated from the first ceramic ferrule manufacturer in mainland China in the 1990s

What is the core free grade B ferrule?

The connector made of this kind of fiber optic ferrules can directly meet the requirements of grade B connector random matching without tunning. The grade B connector made of this kind of fiber optic ferrules has great advantages in cost and performance.

How to detect the concentricity of fiber optic ferrules?

Generally, there are two types, one is contact type (probe detection), the other is non-contact (optical detection). In the early stage, it is mainly probe detection. At present, the mainstream plug-in manufacturers use optical detection. Compared with the probe detection, the optical detection accuracy is higher, the IL correspondence between the selected plug and connector is better, and the secondary pollution can be effectively avoided.
